The Department of Biochemistry situated at 1st Floor, B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad is actively involved in teaching, academic and research activities of First year MBBS (250 seats/year), MD Biochemistry (03 seats/year), DMLT (112 seats/year), First year Physiotherapy (BPT), Occupational Therapy (BOT) and B.Sc. Nursing courses.
The department is managing 24 x 7 running Hi-Tech Clinical Biochemistry laboratory situated at D-10, 1200-bed Multi-speciality Hospital and Trauma Center, CHA. The department is also managing 1200-bed Multi-speciality and OPD Sample Collection Center, CHA. Ours is big-sized, NABL accredited laboratory since 2009 with High end fully automated equipments and extensive lab test menu. The laboratory is processing more than 2000 samples daily and performing more than 12,000 tests daily in accordance with ISO 15189:2022 & NABL guidelines.
Our UG Students have won state level UG Biochemistry Quiz twice. Our PG students have performed well and won at State/National level conference for paper/poster presentation. The department has successfully implemented NMC’s new Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum for medical undergraduates and medical postgraduates.
