Department is one of oldest and pioneer for running undergraduate and postgraduate course in the country with more than 75 years of legacy. Department run in the Woman, Child and Super specialty Hospital wing of Civil Hospital Ahmedabad and its provide comprehensive, holistic approach and treatment to children of not only Gujarat state but also children of nearby state daily 24 X 7 including Sunday and holidays. It is apex centre for treatment of Children of Gujarat state with more than 87000 annual Outpatient department patients, more than 19000 annual indoor admission and 18 postgraduate student intake per year. Department provide almost all treatment free of cost by Government of Gujarat under various schemes. Department run largest NICU/SNCU of state of 120 beds for critically ill newborns of state and adjacent state and also provide free of cost treatment (including ventilation, non invasive ventilation and surfactant) to all newborns. Department has 210 beds for Paediatrics patients out of which 30 level III beds for critically ill Pediatric patients (PICU) and 15 beds for Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre for malnourished children. Department runs daily OPD for outpatient treatment and various Speciality and superspecilaty clinic from Monday to Saturday. Department has State Newborn Centre of Excellence of state where department organizes various training program like FBNC (Facility Base Newborn Care), BEMOC, FIMNCI, KMC Training (Kangaroo Mother Care), Basic and Advance Neonatal Resuscitation Training, Basic Life Support and Advance Life support training program for various State Faculty, Paediatrician, Medical Officer and Staff Nurse.
